Sophie Carse
Psychologist
Sophie (she/her) believes that one of the most important components of therapy is the therapeutic connection between client and therapist. With that in mind, she aims to create an environment that is warm and non-judgemental where you can feel safe, supported, and even able to have a laugh! Sophie will cheer you on and encourage you from the sidelines throughout your journey together.
Sophie has a passion for teaching and has taught at university as well as hospital and community group programs. She uses this experience to help you understand yourself better and develop skills to help you through life’s difficulties. She believes everyone has the capacity for change and healing, although the path forward may look different for each person.
Every client that comes to therapy is a unique individual with a set of life experiences that will inform how Sophie supports them. This could include being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, being part of a cultural or religious community, among other things. Sophie strives to understand both your past and present to best tailor therapy to you. Some of the modalities included in her practice include cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed therapy.
Sophie will see clients 18+ and has an interest in the following areas:
- depression
- anxiety
- substance use and addiction
- hoarding tendencies
- adjusting to life or feeling stuck
- work and academic difficulties
- emotion-regulation difficulties
